Nasa Space Apps Challenge 2021 Announced

Posted in AIREO related communications Community news

The 2021 Nasa Space Apps Challenge is scheduled for October 2-3. The Space Apps Challenge is an annual hackathon which has been running since 2012. The hackathon allows local teams from all over the world to come together and compete using NASA’s open data. Teams can choose from a selection of tasks proposed by NASA. These can include building apps, proposing solutions to technical problems, or producing educational content. The interdisciplinary nature of the challenges encourages close collaboration between different fields and areas of expertise.

In previous years, proposed challenges have included tasks such as using NASA data to identify areas at risk of flooding or drought and then proposing infrastructure changes to reduce potential damage, designing a tool which allows people to identify satellites overhead and to explore the data they are gathering, or using NASA data to detect and track wildfires.

In order to participate in the 2021 challenge you should register with a local team, or none exists you can create your own here. The application deadline for hosting a local team is the 15th of July.
